Safety Critical Software (SCSW) is a blog that focuses on the development and verification of avionics and other safety critical software.

Software engineers in safety-critical fields often find the usual software development blogs to be too focused on visual and web development – fun topics, to be sure, but quite unrelated to the world of high-performance safety critical embedded applications.  That’s where SCSW comes in.

SCSW exists to discuss topics like thread-safe programming, deterministic verifiable coding, object code analysis, source coverage analysis, software benchmarking, and software verification.  SCSW writers are intimately familiar with DO-178B and the fearsome 66 objectives.

The primary author of SCSW is a senior software engineer at a leading avionics manufacturer with over ten years’ experience developing embedded real-time avionics software.
